The grand opening festivities at Sportsplex Suite R will include demonstrations and performances from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with an official ribbon cutting with First Selectman Mike Tetreau at 2 p.m.
“Ballroom dancing enriches life in so many ways and opens up a wonderful new world,” said manager and instructor Viktoriya Kolbenkova. “We look forward to welcome you at Ballroom Dancesport Center in Sportsplex@Fairfield.”
On Saturday, Ballroom Dancesport Center will offer free beginners’ ballroom dancing classes and ballroom dancing demonstrations by the center’s children and adult students.
The classes and demonstrations will be led by Kolbenkova and fellow instructor Sergey Dementyev, who are world class ballroom dancing professionals and competitors.
The instructors, along with owners and instructors Vladimir and Irina Gorshkov, all of whom are Fairfield residents, will be available throughout the day for questions.
Ballroom dancing is a fun exercise that leads to improved cardiovascular fitness as well as better posture, balance, coordination and self-confidence.
“Dancing is a great way to relieve stress, meet new people, and improve your overall mental and emotional well-being,” said Vladimir Gorshkov. “It adds fun, romance and excitement to your life and is a perfect hobby for couples.”
For adults, Ballroom Dancesport Center offers a wide variety of group classes and private lessons.
For kids (ages 3 and up), Ballroom Dancesport Center offers two main programs – Dancesport and Performance, which can open them to the world of competitions held locally and around the country.
Kids Performance Program, another division of Ballroom Dancing, develops their natural artistry and creativity by using different modern dance styles such as Jazz, Hip Hop and Modern. Kids will perform at center's showcases or at dance competitions.
Sportsplex is located at 85 Mill Plain Road. Ballroom Dancesport Center is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
